Why Fogline Exists
Fogline Provisions exists to create barbecue for small gatherings where the meal is every bit as important as the people around the table. We believe hospitality begins long before the food arrives and that craftsmanship is measured by consistency, not spectacle.
What We Believe
Character before reputation.
Precision is respect.
Hospitality begins with preparation.
Every meal carries our name.
What We Do
We prepare barbecue for family dinners, graduations, celebrations, retirement parties, game days, and the gatherings that deserve more than ordinary catering.
The Food Has A History Too
Very little on this menu began from a blank page. These dishes carry pieces of family recipes, meals remembered from childhood, restaurants and cooks encountered along the way, and ideas borrowed, adjusted, and refined through years of cooking. Fogline doesn't claim to have invented them. What we serve is simply where those influences have led us and hopefully honor all those who prepared them for their families.
Northern California wasn't simply home. It shaped how I saw the world. The pace. The weather. The redwoods. The coastline. It left an imprint.
Years later, I live in Chicagoland with my wife and children, but going back still feels less like visiting and more like returning.
Every return begins the same way.
Land at SFO. Head south on 101. Go over the hill toward the coast.
Somewhere around Moss Beach, everything changes.
Salt air. Breath of heaven. Cool fog coming off the Pacific.
For a moment, you're not arriving somewhere new.
You're arriving somewhere familiar.
Home isn't always a place on a map. Sometimes it's a feeling your senses remember before your mind catches up.
That's the feeling behind Fogline Provisions.
Barbecue gives me another way back to it.
Good barbecue can’t be hurried. Fire needs tending. Time turns tough cuts tender. Somewhere in those hours, the rest of the world gets a little quieter.
I slow down.
Our Story
And that's what Northern California has always done for me.
Fogline grew from the idea that maybe a meal could do something similar for someone else. Not transport them to California but give them a reason to slow down, sit with people they care about, eat well, and stay awhile.
The food has to be good. That's the craft.
But the gathering is the point.
The meals people remember years later usually aren't remembered because everything on the plate was perfect. They're remembered because of where they were, who they were with, and how they felt.
If Fogline does its job well, the food becomes part of someone else's memory of home, celebration, reunion, or a quiet evening around a table.
That's the standard.
Not simply serving barbecue.
Creating meals that deserve to become part of someone's story.
